Clothes Horse

I just wanted to post with a few more of the things that I have bought from Goodwill recently.

Floral One Clothing Brand Shirt = $3.50

I really like this style of shirt. I have one other that has the same long ties on it. You can tie it in the back or wrap it around the back and tie it in the front. It looks good both ways. I also love how long it is that it properly covers your stomach. I hate shirts that are too short. For a short girl, I must have a long torso. I think the flowers look like poppies, but I am not a flower expert.

Pink The Limited brand shirt = $3.50

Sheer Crown of Us brand shirt = $3.50

Red "Viva La Martha" t-shirt = $2.50

This t-shirt doesn't have a brand name on the tag. At first I thought it was home made, but then I found out it was selling on Treadpit.com. I can't hate on Martha.

Black Merona brand skirt = $4.00

This skirt might be a tad too long for my taste. The picture really doesn't represent the length. I won't know until I pair it up with the right pair of shoes. It is made of a heavy cotton and has two black buttons decorating the front two pockets.

Pleated black Express skirt = $4.00

You can't really tell from the picture, but the skirts shell is covered in pleats. When I expressed to Matt that this skirt reminded me of a flapper skirt, he agreed. I told him that if I was ever invited to a flapper party, this would be the skirt I wear.

Long golf girl canvas tote = $0.00

I found out when I got home that the cashier forgot to charge me for this. I don't think it is supposed to be used as a purse as it is really long. Based on the length, it looks like it would carry wine bottles in it. The handle separates the two parts of it. It reminds me of a saddle bag as in there are two "bag" parts on both sides. Only one side has a picture on it. I think maybe you are supposed to fill it with golf balls out on the range or something. I am not sure. I do know that it made me want to go golfing again though.

Pink Mohawk

You might want to sit down.

Surprise. I wanted to share a picture of my new haircut with you guys. Actually, I should have taken a picture a few weeks ago because my roots are starting to grow out now. Please be aware that ...

  1. I do know what I am doing. There is a reason to my rhyme.
  2. I can NOT take a picture of myself in a mirror to save my life. Myspace and Facebook be damned.
  3. I just got out of the shower in these pictures so commence with the drowned rat look and the glare from the dirty mirror.
  4. I am aware that the wallpaper in my bathroom is from the 70's.

Everything looks better tinted green.

The lightbulb has it.

We spent the weekend switching our junk room with my old craft room. I am excited to have the extra space to use for my new craft room. Of course, I do have to share with Matt's weight bench, but I do not mind.

The room has two closets. Mine is on the right and Matt's is on the left. Again, there is no coordination to this. Once I get it decorated, I can really get it organized.

&

I bought that desk for $10.00 at Treasure Box thrift store. It is real wood and the lady who sold it to me used it as her sewing table. Ideally, I would like something longer and larger but until I find that perfect table, I will use this. Right now the room is very bare. It is not painted and there are no decorations or form to it really.

This is my idea. I would like to paint the wall a green color. I would like to take some molding and form a border. Inside that I would like to paint some chalkboard paint. Or I might not even doing the molding. Somewhere (either on the blackboard or on another part of the wall somewhere) I would like to install a branch to hang things from and take pictures of. I thought doing it on the chalkboard would be funny because i could draw pictures behind it. But that might be too much in one spot.

I would also like to paint the inside of the closet yellow.

Here are some of the inspiration pictures that I found.

Retail Therapy

Last Friday, as retail therapy, I went to Goodwill and bought myself a few things. All together I bought two dresses (though one will be used as a shirt), 4 shirts, 1 pair of exercise shorts (not shown), and 1 glass item and only spent $37.35.

The first dress I bought is a cute little blue sundress with white flowers on it from Heritage 1981 = $6.00.

The thing I like about this dress is that the liner underneath causes it to not form to your body in any way. It sticks out in a childish way that I really love. Here is a shot of the back.

The next black dress is actually going to be used as a long black shirt instead. It would be WAY too short to wear as a dress but I love the features on the top half so much I had to buy it. Black BeBop brand dress = $6.00.

Here is a close up of the top half I love so much (please ignore the Buddha hair). It has four large black buttons going down the v neck front. Paired with a high collar and puff ball sleeves, the shirt is too wonderful for me not to love it.

I love the length and empire waist on this purple shirt. It was brand new and still had the tags on it for $22.00. Purple Sonoma shirt = $4.00.

Normally I don't go for shirts this loud, but the cotton on this Forever 21 shirt is very soft and only cost $4.00. I just need to throw a cami underneath and I am good to go.

I picked up this next shirt to add to my work wardrobe. Please ignore all the wrinkles. I like the tie in the front but it looks more flattering on the body than it does limp on the hanger. Silky silver Express shirt = $4.00.

I really loved the newsprint on this short sleeved hoodie. Wet Seal hoodie = $4.00.

Since I am also always on the lookout for some interesting glassware to do terrariums in, I had to pick up this mushroom shaped glass container. I think it will look so cute once I get some moss in there. Mushroom Glassware = $2.99.

A request post...

Hello my friends and family! Long time, no post. Most of the things that I have been thrifting lately have been clothes which, for the longest time, I didn't intend to post in this blog. However, I miss posting so much that I figured I might as well post the clothes as well. Right now, all I have to show is this $6.00 house dress from Goodwill. It has one pocket in the front and is very comfortable. I only wear this around the house as a little play/cleaning dress.

(model face)

Now, onto the problem at hand. I bought this table on craigslist a while back. I love the shape to it (semi circular with three legs), but hate the color. I am unsure if I intend to use it as a vanity, or if I want to turn it into a writing desk. Either way, I am 99.9% sure I am going to paint it (once I figure out how). I am thinking it would look lovely in a cream/eggshell color ... but all monochrome. Sort of like this.

I wouldn't want any other tints or shading or anything like that to show (like it does now). Also, I have a mirror that I was going to hang outside that I might possibly use inside if I do indeed use it as a vanity. I don't know. I need your help. Which do you like better? You may click to enlarge any of these pictures.

Here is the table as a vanity.

Detail of the mirror.

Detail of the front drawer and top of the desk. It looks like this fake leather/crackled but it is pretty smooth. I have no idea what it is made of. Does anybody have any idea how to paint something like this? Would I just have to slap some paint on or do you think I would have to do anything special?

Here is the table as a writing desk.

If I end up using it as a writing desk, I will hang the mirror outside on a tree. Here is the inspiration picture that I found that gave me the idea to hang the mirror outside. For some reason, I find the idea of hanging the mirror on a tree very romantic. I love to see indoor things, outside.

Also, while I am asking for advice, I need some help with which color to paint the bedroom. I love everything about this house, except the carpeting. It is industrial type purplish color carpeting. Yuck! Currently the walls are an off-white slightly pinkish color with white trim. I would love to hear your suggestions as to paint color. The only thing I can think of is maybe a light lavender. The walls need to be painted pretty badly as there are patch marks all over the wall when our landlords moved out.

Any and all help/inpute is appreciated.
