#29 - Mystery at the Ski Jump
# 34 - The Hidden Window Mystery
# 39 - The Clue of the Dancing Puppet

I am trying to collect the older set. I already own the reprint of #7 and #9 but I bought them anyway so I can give the new books to my niece (as Jenn is collecting them for her). I think this is my favorite find of the day.

Slap a coat of paint on there...

I apologize for the lack of posts. There have been changes in my professional life that has left me with a severe decrease in personal time.

I realized I hadn't posted pictures yet of my newly painted craft room.

This project was pretty exiting for me because this was the first time in my life I got to paint and personalize a room of my own. I spent a long time in the home improvement store staring at the assorted paint chips, mouth slightly agape, wondering how in the world I was only going to pick one color out of the rainbow displayed before me. I wanted something that would somewhat match my (hideous) rugs, so I chose a light purple. "Purple Gala" to be exact. I realize it may not be other people's cup of tea, but I love it. I feel like such a princess in this room.

I have a little bit more stuff in the room now, but the room still pretty much remains undecorated. One of my next projects will be to make curtains for the windows. I am a novice at the sewing machine, but I think curtains would make a great first project. Also, I have been working on paper mache masks recently and am considering displaying them on the only wall without a window. I bought a handful of those hooks that don't damage the wall so that I can move the masks around to change the asthetic if need be.

And do you remember when I asked for help wondering what to do with this table and mirror? Well, I painted the bejeezus out of it and turned the mirror into a bulletin board using cardboard and two rolls of cork liner (slicing my leg pretty badly with a utility knife in the process). You can't see very well in the pictures, but I even bought purple push pins in the shape of stars!

What I wore to go to work and to later tonight see a play

This entire outfit is thrifted.

Grey Dockers Pants = $6.00
Steve Madden Shoes = $5.99
Black Shirt = $4.00

The accessories are my own and were not thrifted (though, I am always on the look out for cute accessories). The shirt is not form fitting in the least and stays in whatever form it hangs.

They Only Come Out At Night

Last night, Becky and I decided to have a lovely girls night of a movie (Julie & Julia), going to the bat house, and then for some frozen yogurt. I couldn't get any pictures of the bat house, but I got a few videos from my camera.

It was amazing!

I can not believe I have lived here this long and this is the first time I have seen the bats come out at night. I am definitely going to go back again one night.

Revamp

I decided to use my new dress form as the mannequin for the few shirts I bought at Goodwill the other day. Unfortunately, I haven't measured myself and matched the dress form to my proportions yet, so some of the shirts look like they fit differently. The last shirt I posted looks quite different in my opinion. They keyhole opening doesn't open as wide on me as it does on the dress form. I had originally bought it because I fell in love with the ribbon tie. It looks quite delicate and lovely. Unfortunately, in these pictures it just looks trashy.

Mossimo patterned tee = $4.00

Self Esteem pink flower and polka dotted top (with cute buttons) = $4.00

Charlotte Russe tie blouse = $4.00

Guess Collection white tank with ribbon tie = $3.50

Dress Form

I just wanted to share my new dress form that was given to me for free by a friend. She was having a yard sale and I offered to buy it but she insisted I have it instead. Not only that, but she threw in some free patterns too. I have always wanted to learn how to sew my own clothes. I am excited to give it a shot. I haven't adjusted it yet, but will as soon as I measure myself.

Yogurt Blackberry Parfait

Lately I have been on the hunt for some healthy snacks to eat. I used to eat the Fruit and Yogurt Parfait at McDonalds, but the last time I ate there I was turned off by the frozen fruit which eventually turned to mush when it thawed. I figured I could just as easily make it myself with some other tasty fruits.

All you need is some low fat vanilla yogurt, fresh fruit of your choice, and some low fat granola to top it all off. I could only do one layer as I had to use a wine glass because I don't have any fluted glasses. Next time I am going to mix some strawberries in there as well.

Ichitucknee River

Emily and I went tubing down the Ichitucknee River last Monday. I bought a cheap underwater camera to capture the good time we had. We were able to catch the tram to the midpoint and floated for about 1.5 hours utill the end.

We floated by these people hanging out on a log. The guy asked if I had an underwater camera. I told him I did and he responded, "lucky" in a very napoleon dynamite-esque voice. So I took their picture. I am slightly bummed I accidentally had my finger over the lens.

I had to take the picture of Emily sticking her legs straight out of the water in her float.

I loved the look of the cypress knots.

Fish

The sea grass tickled my toes.

Beautiful mermaid.

Unflattering picture, but still so much fun.

Rocky cave

We stopped at a rocky alcove and asked a girl to take our picture.

Evergreen Cemetery

Emily and I stopped by Evergreen Cemetery yesterday to take pictures.

This one intrigued me because the cross is tilted. I wonder if that represents anything.

Though hard to see in a picture, I like the weeping willow design on this headstone.

This one made me curious in a sad way as his wife was never buried with him. I wonder if she remarried and is buried with her second husband instead.

I believe they are headstones, but they could very well be markers. The engravings have well been destroyed over time.

Looks to be a handmade mosaic headstone.

Looks to be another handmade stone and ledger with pebbles around the stone.
